Jackie Silver MHSc, RD Registered Dietitian

Hi there and welcome to my website! My name is Jackie and I am a Registered Dietitian with a Masters of Health Science (MHSc) in Nutrition Communications, currently living in Toronto, Canada.

My mission is to empower disabled people to:

Make sustainable,
long-term habits

Manage their
conditions

Prevent long-term
complications through
nutrition

I am passionate about supporting the neurodivergent and physical disability communities through my private practice where work with clients one-on-one and through my blog and online shop.

My motivation to support these communities stems from my own personal experiences living as a disabled woman as well as completing a dietetic internship rotation with Special Olympics Ontario providing nutrition workshops for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

I firmly believe that neurodivergent and disabled people deserve to live healthy lifestyles and have equal opportunities for nutrition as neurotypical and able-bodied people. I wasn’t seeing many healthcare professionals focusing on these communities so I set out to fill this gap through my private practice, blog, and Instagram page, @accessiblewellness.

My area of expertise in my private practice is working with kids, teens, and adults with autism, ADHD, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. I’ve worked with people of all ages and ability levels, ranging from autistic adults who are fully independent and high functioning to individuals who are nonverbal and living in group homes. I am an SOS trained Practitioner and I love working with this population!

On the blog you will find quick and easy, healthy recipes and educational blog posts about topics relating to neurodivergence, disability, and health.

As a Registered Dietitian, I have been through extensive training to provide you with quality, evidence-based nutrition information. I take a weight-inclusive approach to counselling and focus on sustainable health behaviour change rather than weight. My goal is to support you and your family in creating healthy habits that you’ll easily continue long after we’re done working together.

The learning never stops! Since graduating, I have spent countless hours taking extra courses on picky eating in autism, digestive health, webinars, reading research studies, and more.

In my spare time, I love to cook, bake, exercise, meditate, journal, travel, hang out with family and friends, spend time outdoors, and ride my handcycle.
